This is a somewhat non-related statement repsonse to your 'the more art I see' post. When I hear music that doesn't appeal to my tastes... country comes to mind, or maybe hard core rap that doesn't appeal to a country fan, let say, I think of the passion I feel when I listen to the music I like, and realize that's the passion they hear when they listen to the music they like. i know exactly what you mean! i think sometimes people get far too defensive about their own tastes, in music, in movies, in art. after all, it’s just taste. i would never get mad at someone for liking chocolate ice cream more than strawberry.
